Good school food keeps students learning

A school’s food is a key element of its educational activities. When students eat good, nutritious food, they are better able to concentrate throughout the school day. Everyone who works in the school kitchens is offered training in subjects such as nutrition, food choices, creative cooking, leadership, service and food hygiene.

One stated objective is for the food to be prepared using 25 percent organic produce by 2015, while another is to increase the proportion of vegetarian options. Ideally, two alternative dishes will always be served, one of which is vegetarian.
